FSI Employee Highlight: Lowell Harris

Meet Lowell Harris: His co-workers recently voted for him as a “Most Valuable Employee” for his department, and he also will be included as a nominee for a Company “Jimmy” Award in the Spring. Lowell works at FSIoffice as a Network Administrator and has been with the company for 17 years! Read below for some interesting facts that Lowell has shared about himself, and make sure not to miss the amazing comments written about him by his peers!

1. What do you love most about what you do and about working at FSIoffice in general?

FSI was founded and built on principles of doing business in a Christian way. Profit is tempered with fairness for the company and the customer. The FSI workforce is made up of people who think and work the same way.

2. What has been the most interesting thing you’ve seen or done here?

Building the Corporate websites.

3. What is your favorite motivational quote?

If it is to be, it is up to me.”

4. Where is your favorite vacation spot?

Anywhere beach related.

5. Who is your favorite musician/musical group?

I don’t’ have a favorite musician these days, but there are a few that stand out like Bob Dylan, Joe Banamassa, and Thievery Corporation.

6. What are some of your favorite TV shows, movies, and/or books?

The Lord of the Rings, Babylon 5, History Channel

7. What are some of your favorite activities and interests outside of work

 We’re remodeling my home. We’ve put a lot of sweat equity into the project.

8. What’s a miscellaneous fun fact about you?

I have a previous degree in Commercial Graphics and worked in the printing and sign industries for 15 years. I was the Print Shop manager at the United Way of the Central Carolinas for 5 years.

9. What more can you tell us about yourself?

I’m married to Laura Harris in the furniture department.

I have a BA in Computer Science from UNCC 1999.

I’ve been in Charlotte since 1989.

My mother’s family is from Camden and Charleston, SC and my Father was from Alaska. My grandfather was an Alaskan bush pilot and was among the pioneers of Alaska.

I have 4 sisters.

I partake the shooting sports. I can shoot a one inch group at 100 yards so long as I can do it 10 yards at a time.

I have a 4th degree black belt in Kung Fu and owned a martial arts school in North Charleston, SC.

I owned a video arcade called the Fun Palace in the early 80’s. We had a pool table, foosball and one of the first Ms. Packman games in Charleston.
