Teacher of the Week 2012 Final Recap

For those of you who don’t know, over the past several months we’ve been conducting our 3rd Annual Teacher of the Week program.  This initiative began in 2010 as part of our partnership with the Carolina Panthers and is a way for us to recognize outstanding educators in our region.

From September 1st to November 30th we accepted Teacher of the Week nominations through an online submission form on our website.  Over these three months we received hundreds of nominations.  Each nominee received a box with samples and supplies for the classroom.

Every week for 12 weeks we poured through the nominations and selected our Teacher of the Week.  These 12 individuals truly rose to the top as teachers who go far beyond the call of duty and are having an incredible impact on their students and the community.  Weekly winners received a large gift box of school supplies, a case of paper and 2 tickets to the December 9th Panthers game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The on-field presentation was televised at the end of the 1st quarter.

After spending months working on this project and reading their moving nominations, I finally got to meet these amazing teachers.  With all twelve teachers and their guests at the game on Sunday, we announced the Teacher of the Year.  This year’s winner is Jennifer Cantrell of Ewing Middle School in Gaffney, SC.  Jennifer was given a desk chair, HP laptop computer and a 3m projector as well as $5,000 for her school!

Congratulations to Teacher of the Week winner Jennifer Cantrell!

All of our Teacher of the Week winners are inspiring individuals and I feel honored to have gotten the chance to get to know them.
