FSI Employee Highlight

Today’s three FSI Employee Highlights are recent recipients of the FSI Department Most Valuable Employee Awards. Within each department, two employees are selected by their peers for the award based on a list of criteria, and in the Spring they will be included as a nominee for a company “Jimmy” award as the overall Most Valuable Employee! Jeff Epps and Logan Smith were selected as the two Most Valuable Employees for the Greenville, SC Branch, and David Mallard and Brandon Wright are the two Most Valuable Employees for our Inventory, Receiving, and Stocking Departments. Read our employee highlights below to learn some fun facts about each of these hard-working guys!

Meet Logan Smith: Logan works at the FSIoffice Greenville, SC Branch as a Swing Driver. You may be wondering what a Swing Driver is… they are substitutes for absent drivers. They are trained on all routes for that OPS center, so they can “swing” wherever they need to go!

1. What do you love most about what you do and about working at FSIoffice in general?

I love working for FSI! I like driving to different stops and building customer friendships. I like being outdoors and getting to see different things on the different routes.

2. What has been the most interesting thing you’ve seen or done here?

The most interesting thing I have done here would be learning all of the routes here at the Greenville branch. Learning the different routes has definitely been interesting, but I’ve had a blast doing it!

3. What is your favorite motivational quote?

Hmmm, I don’t really have a motivational quote, other than just a little saying that my grandma would say which is just to stay positive always and to not worry until its time to worry!!

4. Where is your favorite vacation spot?

My favorite vacation spot would definitely be Disney World. The reason being that they have so much to do and so many good eating places. I have only been once, but I hope to go in the future with my wife!

5. Who is your favorite musician/musical group?

I have a couple of favorites. Johnny Cash, Beach Boys, and The Lumineers to name a few!

6. What are some of your favorite TV shows, movies, and/or books?

My favorite TV show would have to be Street Outlaws and The Challenge! My favorite movie of all time would have to be Sling Blade!!!

7. What are some of your favorite activities and interests outside of work

Some of my favorite activities would be kayaking with my wife. We love to go all over the place and kayak. Cars are definitely my number one interest! Anything really with a motor has got my attention!

8. What’s a miscellaneous fun fact about you?

I can do the best impersonation of Carl Childers on the movie Sling Blade!

9. What more can you tell us about yourself?

I will be married to my wife for 1 year as of March 18 this year. I actually met her on the route 7777 that I started on here at FSI, so thanks so much FSI! I love being in Church and being involved in Church. I like to spend time with my family and my wifes family. I really enjoy working for FSI. I have worked a couple of jobs in my past and have never been happier working here! I hope to be here for a long time and continue to accomplish many things at FSI. Thanks for allowing me to work here as a part of the FSI team and to earn the MVE of Greenville! Thanks!!!!

Meet Jeff Epps: Jeff also works as a Swing Driver at the FSIoffice Greenville, SC Branch, and he has been with the company for 11 years.

1. What do you love most about what you do and about working at FSIoffice in general?

I enjoy the people I work with and the customers.

2. What has been the most interesting thing you’ve seen or done here?

I’ve seen some pretty scary accidents.

3. What is your favorite motivational quote?

“When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”

– Jimi Hendrix

4. Where is your favorite vacation spot?

Maggie Valley, and Carnival Cruises

5. Who is your favorite musician/musical group?

Ben Harper

6. What are some of your favorite TV shows, movies, and/or books?

Anything by Stephen King. The Walking Dead, Ink Master, Breaking Bad

7. What are some of your favorite activities and interests outside of work

I enjoy playing guitar and spending time with my family and friends.

8. What’s a miscellaneous fun fact about you?

I lost part of my right pinky in a boating accident.

9. What more can you tell us about yourself?

I’ve been married to my wonderful wife for 19 years and we have one amazing daughter who is 20 and studying to be a physical therapist.

 

What Jeff’s peers have said about him:

“He has always shown great work ethic since he was hired on as a route driver. All of his customers love his great attitude! He never complains, and he comes in every morning at 5:30 am to start his shift. He has now moved into a Swing Driver position and helps all the guys load up or split route if they are overloaded at times. He is a great worker to have around and very dependable! So glad he is on our team.”

“If you’re ever asked to define: “class act,” you will not find someone better to define it than Jeff Epps. You never ask Jeff for help, he always is there to help no matter what he has. Jeff is a great example of a hard worker, and friend as well. A man of few words, but his actions speak loudly.”

“Jeff has been an outstanding coworker. He is a very reliable person. He is also dependable and willing to help you anytime you need assistance. He is also one of the first to come in at the warehouse in the morning. He also just has a very calm and knowledgeable sense of the business. Very glad and fortunate to know him and work with him on a daily basis.”

Meet David Mallard: David works in the Stocking Department at FSIoffice, and he has been with the company for an amazing 33 years!

1. What do you love most about what you do and about working at FSIoffice in general?

The people

2. What has been the most interesting thing you’ve seen or done here?

Attended a Carolina Panthers game and sat in a luxury suite

3. What is your favorite motivational quote?

“Get it in gear!”

4. Where is your favorite vacation spot?

West Jefferson, NC

5. What are some of your favorite TV shows, movies, and/or books?

Star Trek and all of the shows that came from it

6. What are some of your favorite activities and interests outside of work?

Reading and listening to music

7. What more can you tell us about yourself?

I have a very supportive family, and I also am a huge Carolina Panthers fan.
